So today, Monsieur Wanie assigned a further three questions for the "Sustainable development" assignment. The due-date is Friday, February 24th.
Students worked on their "Histoire, Chapitre 5" assignments so as not to have homework over the Family Day weekend. Many students came up for extra help. Katie found a neat website with some interesting information on Riel and historical information on Manitoba.
Here's the link to the homepage:

And the page about Riel and Scott: http://siamandas.com/time_machine/PAGES/early_manitoba/THOMAS_SCOT.htm
Be sure to read with a critical eye. Some points of view may be flawed, biased or may not express the entire truth! Especially what you read on the internet!

Mr. Wanie,
I was wondering who were all the people living by the Red River area? I have some written down but not all...
Thank you!
Katie
Katie; The Irish, British, French, First Nations, Metis, and Scottish.
:)
Mr.Wanie do we have any homework other than the history?
Leya: No worries. Tuesday it is.
Katie: First Nations (Saluteux, Cree, Assiniboine, Ojibwe), Scottish, Irish, French, Metis, the Voyageurs and Scottish fur traders.
Carol: Thanks!
Lilly: The sustainable development assignment for Friday... and read some of your French reading book.
Thank you! Have a good weekend!
Katie: Yup, you too!
Oh I forgot all about the Voyageurs!
Are you able to tell me this: What were the Voyageurs` mean of subsistence?
Never mind!
I forgot about the voyageurs too! What WERE their means of subsistence?
Carol and Lilly: The Voyageurs traded supplied and goods for furs with the first nations people and trading outposts. When they were paddling, they mainly ate Pemmican and a dried green-pea mixture that they had acquired in trade.
