Mercredi, le beau soleil!
Students, parents and guardians, welcome Monsieur Wanie's class blog!
It's not a hugely exciting thing but it does serve a purpose. If students are absent, it's easy to check out what happened in class that day, what assignments were handed-out or are due. Students with Google accounts may post questions to Monsieur Wanie or each other pertaining to class assignments, or school matters. The blog is to be kept business-like. Students are asked to keep their posts short and to-the-point. At times, Monsieur Wanie will post links to aid students in their research or to entertain. Parents may also post to the blog or if necessary, Monsieur Wanie may be reached at andrew.wanie@tdsb.on.ca
Looking forward to a great year!!

Mercredi, la mi-semaine.
Monsieur Wanie's day started with a frustrating fight with the old class computer and digital projector. Gee, they couldn't make these things any more difficult to operate, could they?
Anyway, both 86 and 87 had time to work on their "La nuit mouvementee de Rachel" novels as well as their "Geographie" units.
86 had some time to present their Independent studies, despite Monsieur Wanie's computer problems...
Tomorrow is pool in the morning. Monsieur Wanie will be at Forrest Hill CI attending a meeting but will be back in the afternoon.

Jeudi, encore de la neige mouillee.
Well, Monsieur Wanie is back from his day of appointments! Much more fun to be working with students than driving all over the city in nasty weather!
Anyway, today students began their French reading unit. Each student chose a book from Monsieur Wanie's "library" in preparation for a "Conte rendu" project.
In the afternoon, students worked on their "Histoire, Chapitre 9" assignments...

Lundi, la pluie apres la tempete de neige!
Today, Monsieur Wanie gave out the outline for the "Geographie, Chapitre 9" assignment. It's an oral project/presentation on a Canadian company (of choice) at one of the levels of industry.
Take the J.R. Booth logging company for instance. It began operations in the late 1800s in the Ottawa valley...

Vendredi, la piscine!
So, today was 86 and 87's pool day... so Monsieur Wanie didn't get to see too much of anyone...
Students, if you get the chance, go see this movie: http://www.rockymountainexpressfilm.com/ It's playing in IMAX at the Science Centre. It's about the building of the Canadian Pacific Railway across the Rockies, and it ties in directly to your "Histoire" program!! It's showing at 2pm both Saturday and Sunday this weekend!

So, according to Haddie and Emma S., Monsieur Wanie should be updating the blog more often. However, Monsieur Wanie replies that students should be checking it more often to make the whole thing worthwhile.
To claim your bonus points, answer the following skill testing question:
Utilisez l'inversion:
Haddie et Emma, est-ce que vous allez faire vos devoirs de Geographie?

Lundi, gris.
A small update to the blog for today:
Monsieur Wanie handed-back the last "Histoire" units today. He was very pleased, there are some fantastic marks, students obviously worked very hard.
As well, Monsieur Wanie graded the latest "Geo" assignments in students' notebooks. Again, lots of good marks were awarded.
Today students were supposed to get back into the French swing of things... It looks like tomorrow will be better. Today, everyone tried to focus on their "Folded paper projects" due on Wednesday.
Students can look forward to no "Histoire" of "Geographie" assignments due this week...

Le retour a l'ecole.
Well, we're all back at work! Hopefully, everyone had a great vacation! Just a quick word of thanks, Monsieur Wanie was bowled over by the way-too-generous Christmas gifts, cards and well-wishes. Thank you students and parents for your thoughtfulness and generosity!
It's great to have a nice sunny day to get back to work!
Students began the day with a group-work overview of the different economic systems. The study of these systems will be a recurring theme between now and the end of the year! Look forward to an independent presentation!
