Today students handed-in their "Geographie, chapitre 11". Monsieur Wanie broke some records, got them all corrected and handed-back in the same day. Most students did really well, others need to dig deeper to do more research and put more of themselves into their work.
Then, students worked on their "Histoire, Chapitre 5" due on Monday as well as their skyscrapers. Students also assembled their latest French folder.
Students, here's a cool link to a scale model of Toronto... all the models are made by a 15 year-old! http://www.blogto.com/city/2011/02/toronto_in_cardboard_looks_pretty_damn_good/

Can we come in early on Monday to work on our skyscrapers? Will you be there?
-Esme, Michelle, Kailan, and Marcus 8•7
hey mr. Wanie, for question 3 in histoire i am having trouble finding information about the red river and the means of subsistence of the groups there, can you recommend any websites that might have the information i am looking for? thank you!
For #3 b) in histoire 5 are we supposed to write a specific list of the means of subsistence for each group, or one big list for all the groups that live there?
wait the skyscrapers aren't due on monday right?????
I think they are do on march 4.(next friday)
right?
they are due on Friday, march 4th.
We only have to illustrate a picture between the first nations and the traders of CBH and CN-O of the way the voyagers travaelled by? Does that even make sense....
-Michelle
Ez and friends, I won't be in early... how about Tuesday?
Ella: Metis/First Nations-hunting bison, trapping animals for furs, fishing; Colonists-farming
Kailan: Elaborate on my answer to Ella.
Michaela: Friday the 4th of March.
Are the colonists the business people for the CN-O and CBH?
I can't find how the french Canadians lived in the area of the red river in the 1840s. Do you have any links I could use???
I don't really understand number 8 can anyone help me out?
for number 8 i think you need to say why scott could have helped something if he was not executed.Or what problems the execution caused.
Does anyone know for sure?
For #8, you say why it was a big mistake for Loius Riel to execute Thomas Scott, so you could say either of those things, or even something else. It just has to show why some historians think the execution shouldn't have happened. (I'm pretty sure.)
for number 2 is it why the companies joined, or why the conflict in the red river stopped when they joined?
Michelle: the voyageurs were French-Canadian fur traders. Draw them in their big canoe piled high with furs. Or draw the First Nations people trading furs for guns and blankets.
Kailan: The colonists are Canadian farmers.
Michaela: See my answer to Kailan above.
Danielle, Kailan, Ez: Historians think it was a mistake for Riel to have killed Scott. Answer-> Canadians were shocked that Riel took the law into his own hands. As a result, Canadians mistrusted everything Riel did afterwards, and would not respect the cause he was fighting for (acceptance of the Metis way of life).
Kailan: Both. When the companies merged, the competition between them ceased. They joined because unified, they could better control the Red River area...
How many more periods do you think we will have to work on our skyscrapers?
Esme 8•7
May Michelle and I miss class first period tomorrow for a Skills Team meeting? Thank you!
Esme 8•7
Ez and Michelle: Yup, go to skills. We'll have about 5 periods this week to work on the skyscrapers, that's it. Any other time you need should be before school.
